The name of the village founded by  settlers from the town of Kolomna who were escaping the invasion by Khan Batu. Located  on the southeastern  outskirts of Moscow. The grand Duke of Moscow eventually took the area as a retreat. Ivan the Terrible ordered an out of town palace  to be built there. Several churches from the 16th & 17th centuries survive today.  The white apartment buildings all over Moscow are in panoramic view from the hill overlooking the Moscow River. Today it is a park for visitors and Muscovites alike.
